Ahata-e-Bibi Chameli – Courtyard of Jasmine & Sacred Memories at Ajmer

Aahata-e-Chameli (Jasmine Courtyard)
To the north of the Alamgiri Mosque, there is a courtyard where a jasmine vine grows. Within this compound are the blessed graves of the First wife Bibi Ummatullah, Second wife Bibi Azmatullah noble wives of Hazrat Garib Nawaz. Rings and colorful threads are tied all around the lattices and jasmine branches here. These are mostly tied by women seeking offspring. People also ask the water-bearers (Bhishtis) to pour water into the vine, and by placing their hands inside a small open niche, they drink the sacred water. On the recommendation of Khadim-e-Khwaja Sahib Janab Haji Syed Moolshir Hussain, a resident pilgrim, Noor Mohammad Gandhi, had this courtyard repaired through him.
